Knowing positions for beginners

Positions for sun salutations are demonstrated by:

1. Mountain - stand with feet together, big toes touching heels apart, hands clasped at heart level in prayer position.
2. Back bend- inhale, stretch arms up over the head, arch the back, look up, keep buttocks firm while keeping feet firmly planted on the ground.
3. Forward bend- exhale, stretch forward and downward, bring hands flat to the floor beside the feet, head at the level of knees.
4. Lunge-inhale, hold breath, reach left leg back to rest on the ball of foot and tuck right knee under the chest
5. plank- still holding breath (continued from #4), reach right leg back, hold both legs straight, tighten the abdomen.
