In a small study reveals women's yoga class sessions two times a week may help overcome the other effects of menopause and insomnia.

During menopause, women often experience hot flashes (increased blood flow in blood vessels face, neck, chest and back), cold sweats, anxiety, irritability and some sleep problems.

"We can not say that yoga can treat post-menopausal symptoms, but yoga can repair and deduct," said Dr. Helena Hachul, representatives of researchers.

Hachul and colleagues randomly select 44 women and divided into three groups. 15 women did not do sports. 14 others doing stretching exercises with a physical therapist twice a week and the remaining 15 people join in a yoga class twice a week.

The participants also had to answer a questionnaire before and after the study.

A questionnaire assessing symptoms of menopause where 0-18 is considered mild, 18-35 is quite / moderate and 35 or more is considered severe.

Whereas the other questionnaires assessing insomnia, in which scores above 28 indicate that she has severe insomnia.

Women who participated in a yoga class gets some exercise, including stretching positions and Tibetan techniques that are used for strong and rapid breathing.

After four months, take a yoga class women who reported at least have problems of menopause compared with the other two groups. In addition, women who practice yoga have an average score of 12.4. Meanwhile, women who did not join a yoga class had a score of 19.9.

For insomnia, participants who do yoga have only an average score of 9.7 compared with women from other groups with a score of 13.7.

Researchers believe that yoga helps women get the relaxation that impact on their health.

"Yoga is more focused on what we are doing and the relationship between mind and body," said Booth-LaForce.

LaForce also suggested that women take a yoga class or try it yourself at home for 15 minutes.
